EatoSystem

The Foundation

32 Counties. 195 Countries. One EatoSystem.

Ireland's 32 counties will form the first connected national network of EatoSystem, building relationships with all 195 countries to help develop healthier, stronger and more regenerative food systems locally and globally.

Built locally. Connected globally. Growing together.

Ireland shown as a single productive landscape — fields, water, greenhouses and a working food centre — with points of light across the island linked by arcs reaching out to a faint world map beyond it.

A local network with a global purpose

Thirty-two local gateways to the world.

EatoSystem begins in Ireland, but it is designed for the world. Each Irish county will gradually form relationships with six or seven global country partners. Together, Ireland's 32 counties create a complete connection with all 195 countries.

These relationships are intended to connect people, knowledge, ideas and opportunities — not to impose one food-system model on another.

Every county becomes globally connected. Every country gains a local Irish relationship.

Each relationship is intended to be reciprocal, and to be developed with participation from both sides rather than designed by one of them.

How it develops

From understanding to real-world action.

Six stages, each one feeding the next — and the last feeding back into the first.

  1. 01

    Explore every country

Begin with a global journey introducing the food system around people and the food system inside people.

  2. 02

    Connect their people

Bring together residents, diaspora communities, farmers, chefs, researchers, schools, businesses and organisations.

  3. 03

    Build intelligence together

Develop deeper knowledge through research, lived experience, local contribution and expert collaboration.

  4. 04

    Children imagine the future

Give children the tools to explore, design and build future food systems through EatoVerse.

  5. 05

    Communities build what works

Turn the strongest ideas into practical local and international projects.

  6. 06

    Innovation and capital flow

Share successful models and mobilise revenue, philanthropy and investment locally and globally.

The sequence is a loop, not a line. What communities build in stage five becomes the knowledge stage three works from next time.

Built in Ireland. Connected to the world.

From local strength to global connection.

Each county becomes a local EatoSystem node connected with six or seven global country partners. People and institutions can learn together, build shared intelligence and develop projects that create value in both places.

Knowledge, innovation and opportunity should flow in both directions.

Designed with the next generation

Children help design the food system they will inherit.

Through EatoVerse, children in Irish counties and their global partner countries will be able to use Minecraft and other creative technologies to explore their food systems, share knowledge and design future EatoFarms, Garden Farms and County Headquarters together.

Adults should not build the future food system and simply ask children to inherit it. Children should help design the food system they want to inherit.

What children can help imagine

  • Farms
  • Gardens
  • Kitchens
  • Markets
  • Studios
  • Laboratories
  • Water systems
  • Biodiversity spaces
  • Food-waste solutions
  • Accommodation
  • Community spaces

Children are intended to be genuine contributors, not an audience. Selected ideas can be reviewed, developed and incorporated into future physical projects — though not every design will be built.

The future physical network

A headquarters for every county. A home for every partnership.

Each county could eventually develop an EatoSystem County Headquarters representing the county itself and its six or seven global partners — a working food-system centre and regenerative destination where food, culture, education, research, hospitality, enterprise and community come together.

This is a long-term concept under development. No site has been acquired and no planning permission has been sought.

Central Headquarters
A shared home for food, learning, research, culture, partnerships and enterprise.
EatoFarm
Productive land for regenerative growing, biodiversity, soil restoration and agricultural learning.
Partner-Country Garden Farms
Six or seven distinctive landscapes representing the county's global relationships.
Kitchen, Studio and Lab
Connected spaces for food, storytelling, learning, research and experimentation.
Accommodation
Quiet, regenerative stays distributed throughout the gardens and wider landscape.

Every partnership becomes a living landscape.

Each Garden Farm could be co-designed with residents, farmers, chefs, horticulturalists, researchers, diaspora communities, children and partner institutions.

  • Locally suitable crops associated with the partner country
  • Heritage varieties
  • Controlled-environment growing
  • Orchards
  • Grain and pulse systems
  • Water-wise cultivation
  • Forest food systems
  • Culinary plants
  • Educational interpretation
  • Gathering spaces
  • Experimental plots
  • Collaborative products

The Garden Farms should represent living relationships, not simplified versions of national culture.

  • Not every crop will grow outdoors in Ireland.
  • Some crops may require controlled environments.
  • Some should remain produced in the partner country.
  • Responsible trade can be part of the relationship.
  • Cultural contributors must shape how each country is represented.

A system that grows outward

Every stage strengthens the next.

Every project creates new knowledge. Every relationship creates new opportunity. Every improvement strengthens the wider network.
